Universal Account Number

A UAN number or Universal Account Number is a unique 12-digit number assign by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) to every employee who contributes to the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) scheme. The UAN helps in linking multiple EPF accounts of an employee and making the transfer of EPF balances easy.

To activate your UAN, you can follow the steps given below:

Visit the official website of the EPFO, i.e., www.epfindia.gov.in, and click on the ‘Activate UAN’ option on the homepage.

Please provide your UAN (Universal Account Number), name, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID.
Once you enter the details, you will receive an OTP (One Time Password) on your registered mobile number.

Please enter the OTP (One-Time Password) you received on your mobile number and click the ‘Submit’ button. After successful verification of the OTP, you will be prompt to create a password for your UAN account.

Set a strong password and click on the ‘Submit’ button.

After the password is created, your UAN will be activated, and you can log in to your account using the UAN and the password.

Once your UAN is activate, you can access various services provided by the EPFO, such as checking your EPF balance, downloading your passbook, updating your KYC details, and making a withdrawal request. It is important to keep your UAN and password secure and not share them with anyone else to ensure the safety of your EPF account.
